Yacht charter in Kotor

Kotor sits at the far end of the Bay of Kotor, so a boat from here runs its whole length: the Verige strait, just over three hundred metres wide, the islets off Perast, and three tunnels in the rock where submarines once sheltered — boats can nose right inside. This is sheltered water, with hardly any swell even on a windy day.

The route around the bay

The standard three-hour run out of Kotor is from €580 for the boat: Perast, the island of Our Lady of the Rocks, whose church stands on stones piled up by hand, the Verige strait and a swimming stop in one of the coves. A full day, from €830, adds the trip out of the bay to Mamula island and the Blue Cave. Mamula is seen from the water: the island is a hotel and closed to visitors. At the cave the boat stops at the mouth of the grotto and you go in by kayak or swim from the boat — motor boats have not been allowed inside since 2026. A speedboat is hired by the hour, from €315 an hour.

What it costs

The price is always per boat, never per person. Along the coast as a whole, a motor boat starts from €355 for three hours (up to seven guests; for up to nine, from €390), a sailing yacht for up to eight from €390 for three to four hours, and a catamaran from €520 for four hours. Skipper and fuel for the route are normally included; lunch ashore and port fees in other marinas are extra.

Departure and mooring

The berths are right by the old town walls, five minutes from the South Gate. On cruise-ship days the waterfront is packed and pier space is taken — confirm the boarding point the evening before, it can shift by two hundred metres. Leave the car in the paid lot along the quay: there is no way inside the walls.

Prices by boat type

Starting prices in low season. July and August cost more. The final amount is calculated at booking for your dates.

Common questions

Is the price per person or per boat?

For the whole boat. A boat takes eight to fourteen guests and the cost is split between them. With ten of you, a yacht from €580 works out at €58 each — close to the group trip from €53, but the timing and the stops are yours.

Do I need a licence to skipper?

No, the company’s skipper runs the boat and is included in the price. A licence is only needed for a bareboat charter, a different format.

Is the bay rough?

Hardly at all. Boka is enclosed by mountains on every side, so even in a wind there is rarely any real swell. The motion starts only once you pass Mamula into the open sea.

How much is a boat from Kotor for three hours or a full day?

Three hours start from €580 for the boat and a full day from €830; a speedboat by the hour is from €315. The full day takes you out of the bay to Mamula, seen from the water, and the Blue Cave (Plava špilja), where the boat waits at the entrance.

Can we land on Our Lady of the Rocks (Gospa od Škrpjela)?

Yes, the island has a pier, and the small museum in the church costs €2–3. Landing on neighbouring St George island is not allowed.

Why are boats dearer from Kotor than from Budva or Tivat?

The boats here are bigger, for eight to fourteen guests: three hours start at €580, against €355 in Budva. For four to six people Tivat is better value, with four hours from €390.

Do cruise ships affect boat trips from Kotor?

They crowd the waterfront: on docking days pier space is taken, so confirm the boarding point the evening before. Allow an extra ten minutes to get through the crowds at the gates.
