Included on most boats. No licence needed and nothing to steer — you are a guest on your own yacht.
Charged after confirmation
The owner confirms your date first, and only then does payment go through.

- Do you need a licence
- No. On most boats the captain is included and you are simply a guest. A licence is needed only for a bareboat charter.

- Tivat and Porto Montenegro, Kotor, Budva, Herceg Novi, Portonovi, Bar, plus Perast, Risan, Kumbor, Zelenika, Pržno, Luštica and Lazure.
- Where trips go
- The Bay of Kotor, Perast and the island of Our Lady of the Rocks (Gospa od Škrpjela), the Blue Cave (the boat waits at the entrance — motor boats have not been allowed inside since 2026), Mamula (seen from the water — no landing), Sveti Stefan.
- Season
- High season runs from June to September. In July and August cars and boats are booked up 2–4 weeks ahead, and hiring a car costs roughly twice what it does in May.

Common questions
How much does a yacht charter in Montenegro cost?
A motor boat from €355 for 3 hours (up to seven guests; for up to nine, from €390), a sailing yacht from €390 for 3–4 hours, a catamaran from €520 for 4 hours. Smaller boats are also hired out by the hour, from €130 an hour. That is the price of the whole boat, not of a seat on it — split it across your group. A large motor yacht for eight hours is from €3,495.
Do I need a licence?
No. On most boats the captain is included and you are simply a guest. A licence is needed only if you want to helm a bareboat charter yourself.
How many hours do people charter for?
The usual formats are 3 and 4 hours — enough for the Bay of Kotor with a swimming stop. People take 8 hours when heading for the Blue Cave or Sveti Stefan. Since 2026 motor boats have not been allowed into the grotto itself: the boat stops at the entrance, and you go in by kayak or swim.
When am I charged?
Only after the owner confirms your date. Nothing leaves your card before that.
When should I book?
For July and August, a month ahead or more — the good boats in Porto Montenegro go early. In May, June and September a week is usually enough and prices are noticeably lower.
Booking and payment happen directly on the provider's website.
Sorted the car yet?
You still need to reach the marina, and a taxi in season is the most expensive way to do it. A car in Montenegro starts at €25 a day.
