Yacht charter in Budva

Budva sends you out to sea rather than around a bay: the marina sits on the open coast, and an hour under way brings you to the Katič and Sveta Nedelja islets or to Queen Milena’s beach, which has no road to it. You charter the whole boat, not a seat — for two that is expensive, for six it matches a group tour.

from €355 for 3 hours

Where boats go from Budva

The standard run is south along the coast: St Nicholas island opposite the town, then Pržno and Sveti Stefan from the water, and the Katič and Sveta Nedelja islets off Petrovac with the chapel on the rock. A motor boat with a skipper is from €170 an hour, and a three-hour trip from €355 for the boat — long enough for two swimming stops.

Queen Milena’s beach (Kraljičina plaža) is the main reason to take a boat here: shingle under pines beyond Čanj, between Sutomore and Petrovac, with no road to it at all. The only way in is from the water.

What it costs

The price is always per boat, never per person. Along the coast as a whole, a motor boat starts from €355 for three hours (up to seven guests; for up to nine, from €390), a sailing yacht for up to eight from €390 for three to four hours, and a catamaran from €520 for four hours. The quoted sum normally covers the skipper and the fuel for the route; lunch ashore and port fees in other marinas are paid separately.

What open water means here

Budva is not inside a sheltered bay, so there is more motion here than in Boka. The wind usually gets up after midday, which makes morning departures calmer. If you are prone to seasickness, take a catamaran: two hulls barely roll. Bring light-soled shoes or be ready to go barefoot — dark rubber marks the deck and every operator asks about it.

Prices by boat type

Starting prices in low season. July and August cost more. The final amount is calculated at booking for your dates.

Common questions

Is the price per person or per boat?

For the whole boat. A boat takes six to twelve guests and the cost is split between them. With six of you, a boat from €355 comes to roughly €60 each — slightly more than the group trip from €53, but you choose the route and the stops.

Do I need a licence to skipper?

No, the company’s skipper runs the boat and is included in the price. A licence is only needed for a bareboat charter, which is a different format altogether.

What time of day is best?

In the morning. The wind usually gets up after midday, and Budva faces the open sea, so there is more motion than inside the bay. In a heavy swell the trip is usually rescheduled or refunded — agree on this when you book.

Can I hire a boat for just an hour or two?

Yes: a motor boat with a skipper is from €170 an hour, and a two-hour trip from €235 for the boat. That is enough for St Nicholas island and a look at Sveti Stefan from the water.

Can we go out at sunset?

Yes. The sun sets around 20:20 in June and July, 19:45 in mid-August and 19:00 in mid-September, so book a slot that has you on the water for the last hour of light.

How do I get to St Nicholas island without chartering a boat?

A shuttle boat costs around €5. A private boat makes sense if you also want Sveti Stefan from the water, the islets off Petrovac or Queen Milena’s beach.

Where do boats leave from in Budva?

From the town marina by the Old Town walls, and some from Pržno. Parking near the Old Town is up to €3 an hour, and in summer spaces are scarce.
