Excursions in Budva
Budva is the main pickup point on the coast: more routes leave from here than from any other town, and nearly all of them collect you at your hotel. The coach comes early, at six or seven, but you reach Ostrog or the north before the crowds.

Where people go from Budva
Four routes account for nearly all the bookings. Ostrog with Podgorica — from €39 per person. The Bay of Kotor by boat — from €53, six hours on the water with swimming stops. Lake Skadar with a boat trip — also from €53. These three run in season only and do not operate from October to May. The Tara and Morača canyons with the Đurđevića bridge and the Black Lake — from €58, a full day with eight hours on the road. In autumn 2026 the bridge is closed for reconstruction until 26 October, though it may reopen sooner; check before you go. The operator runs all its tours, group and private, only with a Russian-speaking guide.
The mountain route through Cetinje and Njeguši is the Heart of Montenegro, which adds the cable car above Kotor, from €73; Maxi Montenegro is not running in 2026. Rafting on the Tara is from €82 with breakfast and lunch, in season only: it does not run from October to May.
How pickup works
The coach collects people from hotels along the seafront and on the road to Bečići. The exact time comes the evening before — it depends on where you stay and can differ by half an hour from the published one. If your hotel sits inland, you will be asked to walk out to the nearest stop on the main road.
What to keep in mind
In July and August seats go two or three days ahead, and from October to May most group routes do not run. Cash is needed almost everywhere: entry tickets, lunch and the boat on the lake are paid on the spot. In the mountains at six hundred metres it is cool even in August, and monasteries require covered shoulders and knees.
Prices by format
Prices are starting prices, per adult. A child's ticket is usually about half the adult price; the operator gives the age limit and the exact sum in each route description. Entrance tickets and lunch are normally paid separately on the day — the operator gives you the exact figures.

Common questions
Is there pickup from hotels in Budva?
Yes, almost every group route collects from hotels. The time is sent the evening before. If your hotel is far from the main road, you will be asked to walk to the nearest stop.
How far ahead to book in August?
Two or three days. The popular routes — Ostrog, the bay by boat, the canyons — sell out first. In June and September a single day is enough.
Which is cheaper — a tour or your own car?
For two, usually the tour: from €58 per person for the canyons against a day’s car hire, fuel and eight hours at the wheel. For four, the car works out cheaper and lets you stop where you like.
Are the tours from Budva in English?
No. The operator runs all its tours, group and private, with a Russian-speaking guide only; diving, paragliding and fishing are the exceptions, in Russian, English or Serbian. For Kotor and the bay the bus does the job without a commentary: more than 30 a day, about 40 minutes, usually €5.
How much is a Dubrovnik day trip from Budva?
From €53 per person, passport required; it runs in season and does not operate from October to May. The city walls are extra: €40 from 1 March to 30 November, €20 in winter. At the Croatian border UK passport holders are photographed and fingerprinted on their first EU entry, so the first crossing is slower.
What does the Heart of Montenegro tour include?
Transport, the guide, one cable-car ride, the boat out to Gospa od Škrpjela with entry to the island, and a visit to Kotor old town; from Budva the price starts at €73 per person. Lunch (from €15) and the Cetinje museums are optional extras, and in May the cable car is not part of the programme.
How much do children pay?
Usually about half the adult price: the canyons are from €58 for adults and from €30 for children, the Heart of Montenegro from €73 and from €40. The age limits and the exact sum are in each route description.
