When is a private tour worth it?
A private tour means a car with a driver-guide for your party alone, from €90 for the whole group rather than per person. For four people that is already comparable with a coach tour, and you set the pace: if you want longer at a viewpoint, you take it.
It makes most sense with small children or older parents, or when you would rather shape the day yourself: the Bay of Kotor in half a day, Ostrog and the monasteries, Lake Skadar and the Crnojević River.
What does a private tour include?
The price covers the car and the driver-guide. Entrance tickets and lunch are usually extra — check when you book. The guides speak Russian: the operator runs private tours, like its group tours, only with a Russian-speaking guide, so a private booking will not get you a guide in another language. If Russian does not suit you, the honest alternative is to hire a car and drive yourself.
