Hire a whole boat or join a group trip?
A boat with a skipper is hired whole, and the price is per boat: a motorboat from €355 for three hours, a sailing yacht from €390 for three to four hours, a catamaran from €520 for four hours. Smaller speedboats can also be hired by the hour, from €130. Split six ways, a boat at €355 comes to about €60 each; a seat on the shared boat trip around the bay starts at €53.
The price usually includes the skipper and fuel for the route. Lunch ashore and port fees at other marinas are extra. Boats with prices and availability are in the yacht charter section.
Where to hire a boat: Tivat, Kotor, Budva, Bar or Herceg Novi
From Tivat, four hours on the bay starts at €390 and a full day at €650. From Kotor, three hours starts at €580 and a full day at €830. In Budva speedboats cost from €170 an hour, in Bar from €130 an hour. From Herceg Novi, four hours starts at €415 — it is the closest base to the mouth of the bay.
Since 2026 motorboats have been banned from entering the Blue Cave: the boat waits at the entrance, and you go in by kayak or swim. Mamula island is now a hotel and closed to anyone not staying there, so you see it from the water.
