Do you need a car in Ksamil?

Not for the beaches: in summer a bus runs between Sarandë and Ksamil roughly every 20–30 minutes, with tickets around 100–200 lek. A car is for the further sights — the Blue Eye, Gjirokastër, the Riviera to the north. Hire one for a few days to cover those and leave it parked on beach days.

Parking near the beaches

By the beaches there are private car parks charging a daily fee in cash, usually a few hundred lek. Travellers report that in July and August the central ones are full by 10 am. Further along the road there are free spaces 5–15 minutes’ walk away. Ask your host about parking before you book.

Where to collect a car

Some companies bring the car to your hotel, others hand over at their office — the “Pickup” filter in the search sorts this out. If nothing suitable is free in Ksamil, look in neighbouring Sarandë. We do not publish a separate lowest price for Ksamil: nationwide, hire starts from €11 a day, and the company works out the amount for your dates.

Day trips from Ksamil

Butrint is just to the south: an ancient city on the UNESCO list, with temples, a forum and an amphitheatre. Sarandë is 15–20 minutes away, and from there the SH99 leads to the Blue Eye and Gjirokastër — one day for both. North along the Riviera are the Llogara Pass and Vlorë, about 2.5–3 hours from Sarandë without stops.

When to go

Ksamil lives for the summer. From July to September demand for cars across the country is at its highest, so book early; in August hire costs roughly twice the winter average. In May, June and October the beaches are quieter, parking is easier and the car is cheaper.
