Car rental in Georgia
A hire car in Georgia — the country in the Caucasus, not the US state — starts from $22 a day, collected at Tbilisi, Kutaisi or Batumi airport or brought to your hotel. There are, in effect, no toll roads or vignettes, and almost the whole country can be driven on tarmac, from the mountains at Kazbegi to the tea plantations by the Black Sea.

How it works
Roamo is an informational guide. We show the cars and their conditions; you book directly with the independent rental company that owns the car, and pay it directly too.

Pick a city and dates
Airport, town office or delivery to your hotel — each city page explains how collection works there.
- 2
Compare the conditions
Deposit, insurance, minimum driver age and mileage are shown on every car before you book.
- 3
Book directly
You pay 15–20% when booking and the rest when you collect the car. The contract and payment are with the rental company.

Five city pages: how collection works, where to park and where to drive next.
Common questions
Can I drive in Georgia on my UK or EU licence?
Yes, as long as it is the original licence, its details are in Latin script and it is valid for the whole rental. Copies and digital licences are not accepted. If your licence is not in Latin script, bring an International Driving Permit with it.
Do I need to leave a deposit?
Many cars have no deposit or one of up to $100; it is rarely more than $200–300. Most cars do not need a credit card either, and the conditions for each one are shown before you book.
When is renting cheapest?
January to March. In winter, hire costs roughly a quarter less than in summer. Most bookings are made for May to August, so for those months reserve well ahead.
Can I take a hire car into Turkey or Armenia?
No. Rental cars may not leave Georgia — not for Turkey, Armenia or Azerbaijan — and permission is not given even for an extra fee.
What do I need to enter Georgia?
EU citizens need no visa and can stay for up to a year; check the rules for your own passport before you travel. Since 2026 every visitor also needs medical insurance for the whole trip with cover of at least 30,000 lari, and border police can refuse entry without it.
